Since its introduction, the Island Packet 35 has quickly established itself as an emerging cruising classic.

Featuring the highly successful and acclaimed Island Packet design that combines a broad beam, modern full keel hull with handsome traditional styling and a generous yet easily managed rig, the Island Packet 35 offers today's cruising sailor the unique advantages of performance with excellent control and seakeeping qualities, combined with spacious accommodations normally found only in much longer yachts.

Easily handled by a small crew combined with exceptional comfort and safety features insuring maximum enjoyment at sea and at anchor. Protective full keel design gives the full capability for blue water passages as well as exploring shallow coastal waters.

"Kathleen I" is the last Island Packet 35 built out of the 180 boat run.  She is in excellent condition as the owner only uses it one month a year. The rest of the time it is maintained by Baddeck Marine and Brasdor boatworks. 

There are only 2200 hours on the 38 Hp freshwater cooled Yanmar diesel.

Deck

Accommodations

The tri-cabin layout is ideally suited for extended periods aboard. Two double staterooms, well separated for privacy, combined with a large, comfortable central living area provides a gracious setting whether entertaining dockside, cruising with family and friends, or passage-making offshore.

Overhead handrails, bulkhead handgrips and an easily maintained molded slip resistant cabin sole extending throughout the companionway, galley, head and nav station areas offer sure-footed movement while underway. Numerous stainless steel opening ports, Lewmar Offshore Series deck hatches and integral dorade type deck ventilators provide fresh air and natural light throughout the interior.

Main Salon:

The large main salon spans the entire beam of the yacht, imparting a spacious feel, while generous storage space is provided behind and below each settee and in large cabinets outboard. A foldaway bulkhead mounted table retracts for an unobstructed socializing area. When lowered the table provides for gracious dining while its built-in bottle and glass storage rack further adds to the pleasure of entertaining. There is a single settee on the stbd side, while the port side settee pulls out to provide another double berth.

Galley:

The large wraparound galley is to starboard of the companionway and is equally functional whether underway or at rest. A three-burner propane stove and oven with full safety features, two deep stainless steel sinks, exceptional locker, drawer, cabinet and counter space, and a large and well-insulated icebox with DC refrigeration will delight the onboard chef.

Owner's Stateroom:

The spacious forward stateroom has a large double v-berth. A large cedar lined hanging locker with 2 removable shelves, full-length teak shelves outboard and large lockers under the berth provides ample storage space. The adjoining head has a shower stall with a teak seat a deluxe vanity and storage cabinets. Louvered doors to the head and the salon ensure privacy and ventilation.

Aft Stateroom:

The aft stateroom located to port of the companionway has a large double berth, dressing seat, generous cedar lined hanging locker and a full-length teak shelf outboard. A door provides privacy from the main cabin.

Sails and Rigging

KATHLEEN I is equipped with a mainsail, genoa, staysail. All sails are original. They have been serviced regularly, washed with fresh water frequently during the season and professionally washed, refurbished and maintained during the off-season. 

The standing rigging was replaced in 2014 and has had indoor winter storage since then.

 

Deck and Hull Features

Hull

> Island Packets are constructed of a one-piece integral hull and keel of 100% hand laminated high modulus knitted fiberglass infused with a proprietary pressure-fed roller application system. The Full Foil Keel brings numerous benefits to the cruising sailor including superior protection from damage or fouling of the propeller and rudder, a moderate draft with exceptional stability characteristics for shallow water gunkholing or worldwide voyaging, and winning performance capabilities. Chainplates are interlocked and bonded directly with the hull structure for secure "belt and suspenders"installation.

Engine and Mechanical Equipment

38HP, fresh water cooled, 3 cylinder Yanmar 3Jh2E diesel. The engine is easily accessible from both sides and the front (by removing the companionway steps). Premium lead-lined sound insulation and the tightly fitting gasketed access panels keep interior noise levels low. The 48 gal fuel tank is made of 5052 aluminum and located under the salon sole.
