The history of the Bluenose Class sloop begins in 1946 when naval
architect William J. Roue designed the wooden one design for a group
of sailors at the Armdale Yacht Club. In the mid 1960’s George McVay
of Mahone Bay, NS under license with designer Roue began manufacturing
a fiberglass version of the Bluenose Class Sloop.
The Bluenose fleet is alive and thriving to this day with an active
fleet in Chester, NS which can bring anywhere from 15 to 30 boats to
the start line.
Day sailing or racing this a Bluenose comes with countless hours of fun.
