BACKGROUND

Designed by Farr Yachts as the ultimate boat for offshore day races, the Farr 11s is a modern legend and is still ahead of its time. Built in 2009 with impeccable fit and finish by Premier Composite Technologies in Dubai, in complete carbon fibre, this is hull number three. It has many serious improvements over the prototypes, including smaller rudders moved aft under the hull, different rig, larger sprit, upgraded winches and deck layout, head.

With a wide beam aft and almost 5 feet of freeboard forward, the boat is dry, easy to sail and is unbelievably comfortable upwind. The large sail storage area forward, with marine head and carbon sink gives the boat the interior basics for day racing. This is a full carbon sailboat, with an easy to tune and handle Hall Spars custom carbon double spreader rig, similar to a Farr 40. Split backstays allow for easy sail trim upwind, and are not critical downwind.

Twin rudders, twin daggerboards and a 9 ft canting keel allow maximum horsepower in all conditions. The boat can easily white sail reach at 15 knots and will plane in 12 knots of wind. With a displacement of under 5300 pounds, this boat sails downwind in the same speed range as a TP 52.

For sailors who want to sail and win in the high performance boat leagues with the latest 38 to 40 ft speed machines, or want a reaching and running machine to match 50 foot racing monohulls, this is a low priced option. With a proven handicap of -15 PHRF, this boat is considerably faster boat for boat than the Farr 40 and Soto 40. This 36 foot yacht is a small version of a current VOR Farr 65 with the same thrills and technical advancements.

Because of its small foretriangle and fully battened main, sail inventory is small and reasonably priced. This boat has a single lift point, similar to a Farr 30, which allowed the boat to be easily dry sailed by its original owner. The boat comes with a custom high/low Triad trailer suitable for transport or yard storage.

NOTE: Originally equipped with a Yanmar 1GM with a retractable strut, the boat would barely make 4 knots in flat water; a cause for concern if motoring was required in a sea way. For safety reasons the owner upgraded to a Yanmar 3YM 29hp with sail drive which does not impact the performance in any measurable way BUT provides enhanced safety for those aboard. Motors at 8knots easily and capable of charging batteries and running all electrical systems onboard via a 100amp alternator.

Lightly used, this is a complete package in great condition for sailors who love to sail and represents unbeatable value.
